Meet The Nerdy Meme

LULU did a really cute meme today and I'm going to steal it...cause I like memes!!

The creative Ms LuLu did her homage to her nerdiness which is all encompassed with her unhealthy love of Anderson Cooper..gay or straight.
I have to admit Miss LuLu..Anderson got it going on..if I were a gay man I'd be all over that..and as a side note I would make a great gay man..I love men and I love show tunes!

But on to the meme. 7 random or weird facts about myself; like LuLu I'd like to talk about my geeky, nerdness.

1. I follow the rules. Traffic laws, signs posted on the wall...I even follow a suggestion. I DO what I'm told. I follow whatever an authority figure tells me to do...I don't usually question if this person really IS an authority figure. I am the FIRST person on the plane with me seat belt fastened, seat up and tray table in the upright position... THE FIRST. I will not unsnap my lap belt after we've landed UNTIL the bell dings and the lights go on. You get the idea?

2. I like nerds. I secretly had a crush on Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter.. and a crush on Mr Kotter too.

3. I think proper girls/women should not go around in belly shirts, tanks w/ no bras or daisy dukes w/ your ass hanging out the back. I have ALWAYS felt this way. Even in the late 1970's, early 80's I never wore my tube top by itself. I always wore my zippered terry cloth top over it. (darling really, it was white and had rainbow trim)

4. I love history and reading. I think these are very nerdy things but I'm very proud of them..I LOVED that I could tell Drew that the Bloody Mary drink was not named after a bloody Blessed Mother yet it was named after Mary Queen of Scots because she wanted to kill all the "non Catholics".. There was lots of blood and dead people and beheadings..there must have been vodka too??

5. I will dress like a nerd and not care about it. My shoes are often "granny"..I have black Mary Jane's that I LOVE.. I don't wear heals and like turtlenecks, sweaters, tshirts and jeans. I very rarely wear dresses. I also don't like socks and my feet smell.

6. Celebrity Gossip.. Yeah, I like it...and that is kind of gay/nerdy of a thing to like. I KNOW Britney got new hair extensions today and that Xtina posed new for Marie Claire. I know that Mel B didn't win Dancing w/ the Stars and I don't even watch that show. You want OLD celebrity gossip? Did you know that Bing Cosby used to abuse his children. Seems that back in the day he was a bit of a nasty mean drunk and he BEAT those kids. At least that is what the older boys from the first marriage said. They would briefly show up on the Christmas Shows w/ matching plaid pants. His darling daughter Mary from marriage #2 said Daddy was a saint. At least that is how I remember it.

7. I love the underdog. Unless my "team" is playing I'm always routing for the underdog.. When it comes to fiction or real life I want the least good looking, dorky one to win..and get the girl..

Seven Random Things

Another meme! Slouching Mom www.slouchingmom.com has a new meme that you can go steal! Seven Random things...and yes, you are reading this you are tagged. Let me know if you do it since I love reading these things as much as writing them.

1. Inspired by LuLu's picture today; I have a Cabbage Patch Doll in the basement. His clothes hang in the closet. His name is Joel Chadwick. My dad's cousins, Hazel and John gave him to me when I was around 11 or 12. They were so proud they were able to get one since there was a rush on them at the stores. I don't think I appreciated their efforts as much as I should have. Hazel and John: If they have the Internet in heaven..THANKS!!

2. I'm obsessed now w/ Flickr. You see my little pictures over to the side. Yeah..if you go there leave me comments. I check my status a couple times a day on their popularity status. Crazy, I know.

3. I fall. All the time. Up the stairs, down the stairs, off the bed. I have ALWAYS been clumsy. Mom calls me "Grace". If I'm not falling I'm knocking into things. I almost always have a bruise, cut or burn somewhere on my body. Right now it's the burn scar on my right thumb. The oven gets hot, did you know that?

4. I don't wear high heels. Ever. Ever. I am not quite 5'4" but being "taller" even if it would make the clothes look better is not an option. Ever since I was little I couldn't stand on heels. To this day I wobble and can't walk normal. I'm talking about anything over 1 1/2" or so. I am OK if it's a big huge chunky thing...but I still can't walk normal.

5. I get car sick yet I LOVE amusement park rides.

6. I dream the day we can pack our house and move away and start all over somewhere new. I think the challenge seems SO exciting. I've never really moved before. I've been SO stuck in my ways the only time I ever expand my horizons is in my imagination. I'm thinking maybe we're on the 8-10 year plan. Depends on mom and dad though....and Yes knowing my mother she may be here at 92...well yesterday she said she wasn't going to make it to Christmas. Why do old people aways think they are dying? Wow I've one off on a tangent. ....back on track...

7. Even though my nails are RUINED...I wish I had my overlays again. They looked so pretty. My torn cuticles and bitten nails look horrible. I swore though when I got the overlays off a couple years ago that I'd never put them on again, now I'm reconsidering.

Time for the MeMe First List!

First Memory:
Being in my crib and figuring out how to crawl over and get out. I think I was 2 years old.

First Friend:
Laura across the street.

First Toy:
Raggedy Ann

First Bike:
Black Tricycle, I think it was a hand me down.

First Movie at the Theater:
Apple Dumpling Gang at Ronnie's. I believe I was with mom and Auntie.

First School:
Mom was teaching at St Elizabeth of Hungry. She used to bring me with her. I was only 4 but they let me go to the Preschool class. I LOVED it.

First Sleepover:
Nana's House. We would take Nana to 5pm mass at St Luke's. Finally she talked mom and dad into letting me spend the night. I LOVED being at her house. She had a triangle shaped sunken blue tub in the bathroom. The bed was SO comfortable. She made homemade food from scratch. She and I watched Carol Burnette together. She would let me put my face on her lap and she would tickle my cheeks w/ a kleenex. She had a red wagon; I could go to the top of the hill and go down. Everytime I drive by her old house I just want to go in!

First Trip Away from Home:
DuQuoin IL. Mom's cousins'; Leota and Allen lived outside of town. Mom and dad would sleep in the trailer and Nana and I would sleep in the "boys room". They didn't have inside pluming in the house. The outhouse scared me..or I could go in the trialer. Allen's mother Nan also lived in the trailer. She made homemade pies. They had barn kittens in the barn...I loved them.

First Real Boyfriend: Mark H. I was 15 and he was 18. Hmmm, and my mother KNEW this. I liked him but I didn't love him. Last time I saw him was about 15 years ago. Yuck.

First Kiss: Tony. Spin the bottle. We both had braces. How more cliche can you get?

First time seeing the Ocean: Daytona Florida when I was 7 years old.

First time visiting another country: Mexico...on the other side of Brownsville TX. South Padre Island Spring Break, 1986. You could buy Corona cheap!!

First Car: Mom and Dad's 1977 Yellow Buick Riveara. I remember being in it w/ my friends signing, We all live in the yellow Riveara...yellow riveara...

First Job: Filling in for Mary Ann at dad's work. I was a "secretary" for Kaiser Electric. I had to answer phones, type bids..usuing carbon paper, white out... Some of the people there scared me.

First Pet: Peter, the parakeet

First Album: Rush "Fly By Night"

First Concert: Police at the Checkerdome

First Pro Sports Game: YOUR St Louis Blues at the Arena. Dad and his cousin John used to take me on Saturday nights. It was around $5 to get in. Barclay Plager..Gary Unger. Wow those were the days.
