Except for the one time in Amsterdam when I picked a "coffee house" experience over the long line at Anne Franke's...I have ALWAYS jumped and being educated about WWII...especailly Nazi Germany. The entire story of the war in Europe facinated me. I read books, watch movies..I've been to the Holocaust museum in DC.. I'm not sure what excatly draws me. Maybe it's that I actually have German blood.. at least that's what the papers say.
Anyway.. I just read Those Who Save Us this weekend. WOW.. This novel is so unique. Everything about it blew me away. You meet Anna who is a German girl during WWII..and Trudy her daughter who is born before the war is over. You follow them both in Germany and in real time in Minnesota. You see everyone...the SS officers, hookers, crooks, children, soldiers, jews. You see every type of emotion. Hope, Fear, Desparation, Love, Loathing...
This is so different from the Ken Follet books that I read but I loved it equally.

AMA Review
So, did you watch the American Music Awards last night? I did! I finally got the DVR working in the bedroom so I recorded Amazing Race, Cold Case and Shark. J and I decided if the AMA's got boring we would just turn on the Amazing Race..well the AMA's did NOT get borning. That was a great show. Of course there was some PG13 commentary by Jimmy Kimbell but it was funny stuff.
Highlights of the show for me:
Fergie
Duran Duran
Lenny Kravitz
Daughtry
Alicia Keys
Did I mention Duran Duran
Avril Lavigne
Sugarland and Beyonce
Oh..and Duran Duran

MP Movie Reviews
Well this weekend I was able to watch 3..count them three..tre movies.
I watched Crossing Delancy. How did I get out of the 80's without ever seeing that? It was good! I have issues w/ Amy Irving..but I liked the movie. It goes to show how tough the "women's lib" thing was. Now women don't care anymore...they actually want to get married. I think the difference is that men have changed...at least their perception of what women do.
I watched Eragon. WOW. I totally loved that. The kids all went and say it at the movie theater, I missed it. I LOVE dragons and elves and fantasy. Is it bad that I thought Ed Speelers the kid who played Eragon was hot? Well he was. He reminded me of that McNaughten kid that I had a HUGE crush on, you know the older brother in ET.
Then yesterday J and I went to see Bourne Ultimatum. Yes, it was still in the theater near me. WOW that was fun. It may have been better at home though. I had to go potty...and I know I missed something. Pause would have been good.
Time to work...today is going to be nutty...we're getting portraits taken..I had to wear a suit and bring my make up. Fun.
Oh...I made the newspaper yesterday, the black and white printed one...it was just a little quote and snarky. They asked on the online version what you were going to do when the shut the highway down....back up...on January 2nd they are closing the main East West Highway for 2 years. People are going to have to take alternative ways around town. I said "I know how to get from SW City to Dorsett Road using side streets, if you don't know how to do that I'm not going to tell you"...that not be word for word but you get the gist. So am I published now?

MP Book TV and Techy Review!
TV: It has been YEARS since I've watched a half hour sitcom. For some reason though Samantha Who ? seemed interesting to me, plus I like Christina Applegate.
That was a darn funny show... a little thought provoking too.
Samantha gets dumped by her boyfriend. She's a bitch. She has one superficial friends, she's an alcoholic, she's having an affair with a married man and she hasn't spoken to her parents in 2 years.
Then she gets hit by a car, is out for 8 days. When she awakes all she can here is the Pina Colada song in her head and her mother video taping her in the hospital. There is a girl, Dina there plus mom and dad. Mom and Dad figure if they talk loud she'll remember. Then she meets the boyfriend...who she doesn't remember. By talking to him, Andrea her bff also a bitch...and Dina who was her friend in 7th grade..she realizes that she has a chance to do it all over again...reinvent who she is. Make better choices. The wise doorman of her building suggests starting at he beginning. Sam moves back with mom and dad; praying that they weren't the ones that hit her with their car...she also crosses her fingers hoping she may be adopted. I will tune in next Monday! Funny stuff.
Book: This weekend I read The Thirteenth Tale. GREAT book. You can find it at Target or any bookstore. It's a first novel and reads very well. I don't want to tell you too much. If you like a beginning, middle and end...or like Jane Eyre or Wurthering Heights..this is the book for you. Margaret is a biographer and works in her dad's shop. She is commissioned by and OLD author Ms Winter; to write her biography...the TRUE story. Great book!
Techy: iPod Touch. WAY COOL. I gave it to J last night. He was SO psyched. I got it synched..he needs to do that wi fi stuff. Internet, photos, videos, music..WAY COOL... did I say that already..well it is!
I stayed up playing with it, and iTunes way to late and I'm sleepy. I did make a new playlist and burn myself a new CD (J got iTunes cards too). I downloaded the new Duran Duran single, it's pretty good. So on my ride to work I had: Duran Duran, Cake, Pink, Avril Lavine, Dead Kennedy's, Green Day, George Harrison and Chaka Chan. :-)
